Elizabeth’s Bio
Licensed Professional Counselor / Art Therapist
Whether you are navigating burnout, chronic illness, neurodivergence, sensitivity, trauma, family dynamics, or feeling misunderstood, with all the anxieties involved—you are looking for a safe person who gets it. As someone who was always considered or called “sensitive”, my passion is to help those who have experienced the world in this way—looking to bring more clarity, understanding and acceptance of oneself. As a late diagnosed neurodivergent therapist, battling with my own chronic illness, my goal as an art psychotherapist is to support others in navigating the world not feel as alone, while providing advocacy in an inclusive safe space for all minds and abilities.
No two people are alike, especially when involving individual needs and concerns. Being both a Licensed Professional Counselor and credentialed Art Therapist, allows me to work with a personal understanding with those who may need a non-traditional approach in therapy; because some days we need to create and other days we need to regulate!
I provide an integrative approach to therapy that may include elements of; art therapy, experiential therapy, family systems, reality based, while being trauma, developmentally and culturally informed. Progress is never linear, so throughout treatment we will continuously identify concerns together, and collaborate on coping strategies to relieve any anxiety or stress in order to reach your goals.
Over the last 10 years, I have gained specific training, therapeutic skills and knowledge from working in hospitals, residential treatment facilities, outpatient centers and early intervention clinics, which included providing:
- Inclusive, Strength-based, Neuro-affirming therapy for neurodivergent individuals across the lifespan (including self-identifying late diagnosed adults)
- Coping through grief and loss related to chronic illnesses and/or management of complex pain related to: autoimmune disorders, genetic disorders, developmental differences, disabilities, and cancers
- Trauma informed care across the lifespan; not limited to adverse childhood experiences
- Expressive arts as a means to cope through burnout
- Clinical Supervision for limited licensed professional counselors and provisional art therapists in the state of Michigan
Any change (negative or positive) in life can feel scary; you don’t have to navigate it alone. I believe that any therapeutic process or relationship is fostered by building upon a trusting and empathetic relationship; meeting you, the person, before looking at any problems. My goal is to provide a safe space and be your confidant. As your therapist, I would be honored to be the person by your side.
