It was originally created by Marsha Linehan to<br \/>help people with borderline personality disorder, but it is now used for issues like emotion<br \/>dysregulation, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, depression, anxiety and more. DBT blends two<br \/>ideas; acceptance and change. Accepting yourself and your emotions as they are and changing<br \/>behaviors and thoughts that are causing problems.<\/p><p>The key components of DBT are mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation and<br \/>interpersonal effectiveness. It is very structured and skills-focused.<\/p><p>Angie Pecsenye, MA, LPC, NCC and Ryan Pecsenye, MS, LLP were trained at the DBT<br \/>Foundational Training in Lansing over fifteen years ago when they worked for Lincoln<br \/>Behavioral Services, a community mental health clinic.
